About the Item
Created during her artist residency at La Napoule Art Foundation in La Napoule, France, this ethereal work by Kaitlyn Tucek transports viewers into a surreal scene.
Tucek has used warm, earthy tones to render a composition that seems to appear in front of our eyes, dreamlike and sensual. Layering oil paints and crayon, she has left parts of the canvas exposed, as if taken from the artist's sketchbook.
Nude female figures are seen crouching down or taking a moment of repose in the midst of their search for underwater treasures. Disembodied eyes, shells, and other forms add a sense of spirituality to the painting, as well as confusing our perception of space within the portrayed scene.

Kaitlyn Tucek lives and works in Denver, CO. From Long Island, NY, Tucek graduated from Pratt Institute in 2006 and was awarded a Master’s from CUNY Queens College in 2013. Tucek is a multi-disciplinary artist, working with a variety of media and mahttps://pro.artcloud.com/#terials. Tucek’s work has been shown in New York, Denver, and Aspen, including exhibits at Leon Gallery, ATC, and Alto Gallery. She was formerly named one of Denver’s top 5 artists to watch and collect by 5280 Magazine. Recently in fall 2023, Tucek was a resident artist at La Napoule Art Foundation in La Napoule, France.
