Keiko Ogawa
Chicago Theatre - Seated Woman Surrounded by Architectural Detail and Blue Walls

2021

About the Item

A solitary figure sits at a table engrossed in her work. The rich blue wall, with its decorative ornamentation, is juxtaposed against a kaleidoscope of color and texture in the foreground, as seen in the balustrade, the table and her dress. The painting's loose brush strokes, with splashes of red, yellow and orange, beautifully capture the casual scene. The wrapped canvas is beautiful alone. Contact the gallery for framing options. Keiko Ogawa Chicago Theatre acrylic on canvas 25.50h x 25.50w in 64.77h x 64.77w cm KEO011 Keiko Ogawa was born in Tokyo, Japan in 1974. While traveling the world, she met a well known Catalan painter who would become her husband and they settled in his hometown of Barcelona, Spain. The two artists share their studios on the 1st floor of a loft building just a few blocks from Antonio Gaudi's, Sagrada Familia in Barcelona. They live on the floors above the studio. Keiko's paintings capture architectural spaces sometimes inhabited by figures. The works look to be painted quickly and with confidence. But, while her Her dynamic use of paint might seem to contrast the contemplative and solitary subjects in her work, it instead has the effect of drawing even more focus to the intense restraint in her subjects.
