"Abstract Woman" is an original oil painting by Matthew Schaefer. It depicts a woman in bright shapes and lines instead of solid form and naturalism. Matthew Schaefer's painterly style is thin and messy, focusing on expression and emotion. Some parts he paints thick enough for the paint to drip, where as other sections look almost scratched in.

Artist Bio:
Matthew Schaefer is a Chicago-based artist whose work employs gestural brush strokes with figurative subjects to portray emotion and energy in a flat portrait. The bright colors and distorted features give the figure an almost fauvist appearance. Schaefer attended the Silverman College of Art in Connecticut. His more recent paintings have explored a more minimal approach to painting.
