DEBUT, by Pamela Boullier Ross is a painting of narrative essence and derives from the artist's repertoire as a story teller and illustrator. This work invites the viewer to consider a personal experience when they may have felt the uncertainty and thrill of debuting for the first time. Here the artist depicts a lovely young ballerina about to begin a first performance as sheet waits in the wings for the conductor's special que from the orchestra pit. Curtain is rising, lights are dimming, and the audience in the Grande Booths of perhaps a later day theatre - the Bolshoi perhaps? - begins to settle. This painting is alive with beautifully painted tints and hues, with a subtle underlay of coppery underpainting and Art Deco'esque' border. Not for everyone, but a collector's delight.
