About the Item

Paul A. Giovanopoulos Oil paintings on canvas Measures approx. 23 X 23 overall including thin frame. This one depicts an ice cream done in a photo realism pop art style super imposed over a surrealist Giorgio di Chirico Surrealist Painting. This is one of three we are offering for sale, one in the primitive manner of Henri Rousseau, one in the surrealism style of Salvador Dali and one in the surrealist style of Giorgio de Chirico. Paul Giovanopoulos was born in 1939 in Kastoria, Greece. He has since made his mark as an American artist and illustrator. Paul attended the New York University and School of Visual Arts, Parsons School of Design, and the Pratt Institute of Art in Brooklyn. He obtained his US citizenship in 1961 at the age of 22. Paul lives in New York, and has exhibited work across the United States, and Europe. His fine art work is collected by the estates of Steve Wynn, James Cameron, Sylvester Stallone, and Michael Bloomberg. His work is featured within more than fifty private and corporate collections, including the New York Public Library and Harvard University JFK School. He has appropriated both Leonardo Da Vinci and Andy Warhol in his work, notably in his large painting "Annunciation". Among his many corporate clients are Random House, Rosenthal China, United Airlines, Playboy Magazine, Del Rey Books, Warner Books, and Ritzenhoff AG.
