In his paintings, Radu Rodideal speaks about the concept of loneliness. Everybody is born alone, and everybody dies alone. In our century, to be alone and to feel lonely is one of the most common sentiments.
Radu Rodideal’s characters are alone, surprised in a meditative state of mind. The artist chooses not to represent the head of the characters; in several of his paintings, the figures are represented from one side or backside, but in a way, you never encounter their eyes. If you see the eyes, you can meet the soul. But no, the viewer can only discover the character through fragmented bodies and different objects; you can see the beautiful legs, nice shoes or electric dresses.
Each character is represented in a colourful non-representational background, which is shaped by clear lines, as a contrast of colours and form.

Radu Rodideal
Radu Rodideal was born in 1986 in Bucharest, Romania. He is one of the leading young artists from Romania with exhibitions in Austria, Germany, and Romania. He graduated in 2010 at the University of Arts in Bucharest, painting department and in 2014 the University of Music, piano department. In his paintings the artist discusses the allusive eroticism hidden in the most ordinary actions, places or objects, sometimes revealing the emotional burden they carry on their own. His artworks can be found in private collections from Germany, Romania, France, Italy, Belgium, USA. He is represented by Anaid Art Gallery Berlin, since 2018.
