Ron Croci
'Any Day in America', Social Realist, Beat Generation, Allen Ginsberg,

Circa 1970

About the Item

Signed lower right, "Croci" for Ron Croci (American, born 1945), and painted circa 1970. A substantial, Social Realist watercolor showing a view of a ramshackle rust-belt landscape with the victims of a multiple homicide sprawled across and around a vintage Oldsmobile sedan. A woman weeps as a policeman gazes skyward against a finely-detailed background of corroding mid-century industrialism and crumpled, giant dollar bills. This painting was commissioned as an illustration for the, eventually, unpublished fine-art book treatment of Allen Ginsberg's poem 'The Fall of America'.
