About the Item

This painting is inspired by the "Rest on the Flight into Egypt" by Simone Cantarini called Il Pesarese, who was an Italian painter and etcher. He is mainly known for his history paintings and portraits executed in an original style, which united aspects of Bolognese classicism with a bold naturalism. Cantarini was also a gifted etcher who achieved extraordinary delicacy and a vibrant and luminous quality in his graphic work. It's made on ceramic, 33 x 24 cm without frame, and it can be ascribed to a manufacturer of the same town of the artist, because the Pesaro ceramic was very famous and one of the main production of the town.
