Wyona Diskin, American (1915 - 1991) Girl In A Blue Chair Acrylic on canvas partially painted over wire mesh, Unsigned. Framed. Measurements: H 70.5 x W 49.5 x D 1.25 inches Wyona Diskin, an American painter and printmaker, born and raised in New York City resided throughout her adult life in Manhattan. She was introduced to the New York art scene through her friend Michael Loew and his circle of friends who included artists like Jackson Pollack, George and Eileen De Kooning, and Milton Avery. She studied art at NYU and the NYAA under Joseph Hirsch and Lily Harmon amongst others. She also worked there for John Kacere and Jack Tworkov. Diskin's preferred mediums were oil and acrylic for much of her life, only at a later stage of her creative work she went into printmaking.
