About the Item

"Bedtime At The Beach House" (2023) oil on canvas, impressionist interiors, bed, bedroom, dog 30" high x 24" wide x 1.5" deep by Ekaterina Popova, founder of Create Magazine She uses vibrant, saturated pigments in her serene and inviting sunshine filled greenhouse scene -- ranges of teal, mint, green, sienna, brown, yellow green, blue, tan, pale, amber and deep green. The scene has a beautiful, warm, sunlit glow. The artist paints with rich, luscious brush strokes with ample paint, so her touch is visible throughout. Artist Statement - Ekaterina Popova "For the past few years, I have been exploring interiors in my work. The interest started as a way for me to reflect on my upbringing in Russia, but eventually progressed to exploring the overall idea of “home” and what it means me now. The work has slowly evolved from being reflective and sentimental to being mindful and present in my current environment. I repeatedly paint my own bedroom, visit other people’s houses, and use reference photos submitted to me by others online. My paintings include messy rooms, intimate items, and objects that refer to human presence without including the figure. I pick up on the subtle tones, lighting, and mood of each location in order to capture the emotion I associate with the space and then exaggerate the color to create a dream-like image." Ekaterina Popova was born in Vladimir, Russia. After moving to the United States, she fell in love with painting and received a BFA from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania. Her work has been exhibited nationally, including The Painting Center in New York, Art Miami Fairs, The Trenton City Museum, Delaware Contemporary, Uforge Gallery, The Painted Bride Center, The Boxheart Gallery, A.I.R. Gallery and more. She has been featured in multiple blogs and publications, including Aesthetica, The Jealous Curator, Professional Artist Magazine, Studio Visit Magazine, Iceview and The Philadelphia Inquirer. Ekaterina works out of her studio in Philadelphia, PA.

    Located in Jerusalem, IL
Osnat Yaheli Sarbagil Planters , 2017 oil on canvas 93 x 52 cm (37 x 20 in) Focusing on the detailed patterns of faux-marble tiles, her paintings assimilate abstract geometric compositions. Occasionally an object such as a plant or a garbage can disrupt the severe cold surfaces to create a human scale or reference. Her works criticize the local architecture of the day as a reflection of the pseudo “New Israeli” identity they try to portray. Today mayors and real- estate entrepreneurs join forces to promote unprecedented amounts of new building projects and neighborhoods. These are designed to boost the city image as a place for young families of wealthy professionals. In turn, the Israeli public seeks to ameliorate from their run-down block- apartments and move into “luxury towers”. Though her works seem like photo-realistic academic painting, they are in fact constructed from a succession of false manipulations- digitally processed photographs create the desired composition, masking-tape helps create the straight lines and splashes of paint create the tile patterns. These images are engineered renderings...
