Blue Ridge Valley 2 is an original mixed media landscape painting by Anya Simmons. This piece aims to capture the presence of nature, depicting the perfect escape from the real world. A cottage retreat, overlooking the pure, vast, yet exposed landscape in her imagination.
Anya Simmons is a professional artist based in Kineton, Warwickshire. She studied a Bed (hons) teaching degree with art and design and enjoyed a successful career as a primary school teacher for many years, before going on to pursue her passion and love for art. Anya held her first solo exhibition in Walton Village in 2005 and was overwhelmed by the response. She has continued to develop her own expressive and individual style and exhibits in various galleries throughout the UK, holding regular exhibitions and events during the year.
Anya’s work Is profoundly influenced by beautiful coastal landscapes, quirky harbours and the ever-changing countryside of Great Britain and around the world. She enjoys working with various mediums creating an exciting blend of textures, shapes and vibrant colours, whilst continually experimenting with the effects that can be created using gesso, acrylic, acrylic inks and a variety of mark making materials. The depth of colour, movement and versatility that can be achieved using these elements excites her. She gets great pleasure from examining the form, Colours, light and texture within our diverse landscape and is continually striving to capture this through her work.
