About the Item

This painting on Masonite measures 17.5 x 25.5 and was painted in 2011. Mr Ford was so impressed by The High Line in New York City that in 2011 he created a series of realistic paintings based on the High Line and it's surrounding area. This is one of those rare paintings. Charles Ford's work is in the permanent collection of the Museum of the City of New York. Mr. Ford passed away in 2016 and there are very few of his city paintings still available and they are what he is best known for an the most collectible. Featured is another wonderful painting by Charles Ford that captures the great lighting and shadows of New York City's buildings. The Standard Grill is located under New York's famous High Line. You can see the foliage of the High line featured on the top of the painting. When viewing this original painting, you get a sensational feeling for the city and the time of day this painting was created by taking in Mr. Ford's wonderful use of cast shadows. His "City Paintings" have a very realistic color palette, very true to life. His colors aren't exaggerated and distorted so that they do not become the subject of the canvas, his imagery becomes the subject, and his true to life color and expert technique become the focus of this painting..
