About the Item
George Oberteuffer was an American Impressionist but he spent much of his career painting in France which is where this may have been done. He embraced the Post - Impressionist style and did so fluidly and more adeptly than many Americans. As with this sun laden landscape, he applies thick strokes of impastic paint and in a quick manner which gives the piece movement and spontenaiety.
His work is in American museums and he is historically noted!
This piece has a very fine hand carved Art Nouveau frame of 22 karat gold and in person is vivid and alive!
Inside the frame the canvas measures 25.75 x 32.
