After the birth of her daughter and a move to the countryside in Buckinghamshire, her studio practice shifted as she threw herself into painting expressive, energetic and larger works. Georgia's contemporary landscape paintings are bold and alive with movement. Inspired by immersing herself in vast, natural landscapes where she feels a great sense of freedom and ‘aliveness’. She translates this fizzing energy onto the canvas back in the studio. With the beginning layers, she says "I'm painting with emotion, freedom, the marks are fast and bold and colours are chosen with a liberated desire. As the painting builds layer upon layer, the process slows down as I see a landscape emerging from the chaos." Georgia relishes working on a large scale, using mops, brooms and discarded wood to shift the paint to its desired effect. Her large painting 'Unforgiving Elements' (2 x 1.5 metres) was long-listed for the Jackson Painting Prize 2022 and exhibited at the Oxo Tower, London in 2023 as part of the Chaiya Art Prize. Georgia's work has been spotted in Good Housekeeping & InStyle magazine’s. She had her first solo exhibition of 40 works last year and her paintings have been collected across the UK, America, Europe and Australia. Georgia has built a loyal following in a short time and is considered an emerging artist to watch.

  • A Glittering Autumn Day, Tree Art, Colourful Textured Painting, Autumnal Artwork
    By Nicky Chubb
    Located in Deddington, GB
A Glittering Autumn Day by Artist Nicky Chubb is an original artwork. Chubb's unique style of splattering paint for the leaves makes the tree stand out to the viewer. Nicky Chubb artist with Wychwood Art. Nicky Chubb comments " My work is essentially optimistic, whether I'm painting flowers or the sea, the emotions I aim to evoke are hope and happiness. The trees, big skies and hardy heathland flowers of the countryside around my home, and the sense of time and belonging that watching them through the seasons brings, are a huge inspiration. I try to capture a sense of air and movement as I paint. I originally trained as a designer (BA hons Fashion, Central St Martins 1993) and the influence of my love of textiles can be seen in my use of colour, texture and pattern. I am currently exploring the different effects, happy accidents and controlled corrosion of mixed media in the backgrounds of my tree paintings to create wilder skies. Drawing the human figure, trying to capture moments in time and changing light is an interest that has always run parallel to my other work. All my figure paintings are in mixed media, either quick, gestural drawings or multi-layered combinations of ink, paint, collage and resin. " Nicky Chubb artist is shown in Wychwood Art gallery...

  • Sandbank, abstract art, landscape art, seascape art, original painting
    By Jon Rowland
    Located in Deddington, GB
Jon Rowland: 'As the tide recedes sometimes it leaves small sand spits. The Scottish coast offers opportunities to make a quick sketch that can be worked on in the studio.' Discover new paintings by Jon Rowland and his abstract expressionism with Wychwood Art. Each work has been carefully selected by Deborah Allan our Chief Art Curator. Wychwood Art have exhibited Jon Rowland in London during a pop-up exhibition of theirs at the Darren Baker Gallery. His paintings have been displayed at the Royal Academy and at the Berthold and Darren Baker Gallery in London. He has also exhibited in group exhibitions at Linacre and Green Colleges, at Swann Gallery in Woodstock, and with Wychwood Art at Battersea Art Fair. He was one of six contemporary artists who took part in an exhibition of views of Blenheim Palace, juxtaposing the original visions with today's, as part of the celebration of the 300th anniversary of Capability Brown's birth. Solo exhibitions have been at the Said Business School, Wolfson College in Central Oxford, and most recently at the Sewell Centre Art Gallery and Cornerstone Art Centre in Oxfordshire, and the Boiler Room Gallery in Central Oxford. Through Wychwood Art, he has carried out several large scale commissions for private clients. Jon comments: Painting is a journey. One starts at one place - the blank canvas, and hopefully ends at a resolution. Sometimes one gets lost. My aim in this journey is to create original, contemporary art that is grounded in place. Chance and opportunity are the travelling companions; but the art is to know when the journey is complete. I tend to work in series, with references to locations that are abstracted, reflecting on themes of colour, movement and space. In some themes I use concepts...
