Gordon Hunt paintings available for sale online and in our art gallery. Gordon Hunt paints beautiful, colourful and relaxing paintings. Gordon works from his home studio in Fowey, Cornwall. “I paint the light effects of sunshine on water, with sparkling reflections and silhouettes, resulting in strong contrasting colours and dynamic shapes,” he explains. “I have a real sense of ‘painting the light’ when creating these works, evoking the feeling of sunshine, holidays and well being, which I think is why they are so popular.” “The camera is my sketchbook, I carry it at all times, ready to capture a moment, a ray of light, a sparkle of water. Back in the studio I sketch out the composition in my sketchbook, it has brown paper pages, so as well as the shapes drawn with a black pencil, I also use a white pencil to indicate the white, bright areas of the painting.” Gordon Hunt paints in acrylic on box canvas. “The quick drying properties of acrylic suits my style of painting, building up layers of colour, working towards the brightest parts of the painting. I also like the modern clean look of box canvas on the wall.

Henry is now a freelance artist & designer concentrating more time to his painting. Artist and painter Henry Walsh comments “My work begins with snapshots of busy city life and by a process of elimination I refocus the image on elements that encapsulate a sober thoughtfulness." "Scattered throughout the hustle and bustle of concrete life, like pools among the rocks, are the parks and squares that provide us with a place to breathe and a time to think. It is a fundamental need of a sane society to be able to stop once in a while and wander from the routine, lift our heads and look at the sky or take in our regular surroundings with a fresh insight.” “Sitting on the top deck of a London bus, I let my mind stroll over the lives of the people on the street, they obtain new life stories; I’m placing myself in their shoes...

  • High Summer, Impressionist Style Floral Painting, Naive Landscape Art, Bright
    By Rosemary Farrer

High Summer an Original Painting by Rosemary Farrer. This is one of a new series of paintings I've been working on recently. Inspired by time spent drawing and making colour studies in a Piet Oudolf designed garden in Somerset. The colours and plant shapes were beautiful as well as the way they were planted in sinuous drifts and repeated through the space. A perfect evocation of high summer. Colour is my passion, it has the power to change your mood and to evoke memories and emotions. In the words of Georgia O'Keeffe 'I found I could say things with colour and shapes that I couldn't say in any other way – things I had no words for. Rosemary Farrer is available online and in our gallery at Wychwood Art. Rosemary artists and printmaker sells with us online and in our art gallery in Stow-on-the-Wold. Rosemary paints in oils and also makes original prints. The prints are in no way copies of the paintings, they are conceived of, and made, as a response to the special and wonderful effects that can be achieved only through the various techniques of printmaking, whether it be the graphic, dynamic marks of a linocut, or the subtle tones and textures achievable in aquatint and etching. Design, composition and the use of colour are what excite her. She spends a lot of time drawing and painting outside, back in the studio, she will distil these ideas into strong graphic woodcuts, and linos or subtly textured etchings. Recent monotypes draw together the threads of her different media, with their graphic shapes and rich painterly colours. She studied fine art at Camberwell School of Art and The Ruskin School of Drawing, and learned printmaking at Morley College [London]. She has exhibited prints...
