About the Item

In "An Early Spring Morning," Hazel Thomson invites viewers into a tranquil landscape resonating with the promise of renewal. The canvas unfolds with a harmonious blend of colors and textures, capturing the serene essence of a dawn awakening. At the forefront of the scene, a vast field bursts with the radiant hues of daffodils, their golden petals swaying gently in the morning breeze. Each flower exudes a sense of vitality, infusing the air with a delicate fragrance and a touch of joy. Stretching across the canvas, leafless trees stand as silent witnesses to the unfolding spectacle of nature. Among them, a row of slender birch trees graces the background, their elegant forms casting long shadows upon the ground below, enhancing the depth and tranquility of the scene. Above, the sky stretches in a soft, serene blue, unblemished by the presence of clouds. Rays of sunlight filter through the branches of the foreground trees, casting dappled shadows upon the ground and illuminating the delicate beauty of the daffodils. A rustic fence spans the horizon, lining the edge of the field and leading the viewer's gaze towards the distant rows of trees. Straight and unwavering, the fence adds a sense of structure to the scene, guiding the eye and accentuating the tranquil beauty of the landscape. "An Early Spring Morning" reflects Hazel Thomson's deep connection to the natural world and her commitment to capturing its timeless beauty. Through her masterful brushwork and keen attention to detail, Thomson invites viewers to immerse themselves in the quiet splendor of a new day dawning. This captivating artwork, resonating with the artist's dedication to environmental conservation and the celebration of nature's wonders, is available for acquisition at Signet Contemporary in Chelsea and online, offering art enthusiasts the opportunity to bring the essence of "An Early Spring Morning" into their homes and hearts. Artist Biography: Hazel Thomson is an acclaimed artist whose creations grace galleries worldwide. Her artistic approach transcends mere painting, adopting a sculptural essence. With deliberate strokes of a palette knife, she builds layers of paint, shaping her canvases with meticulous care. Each mark is a deliberate choice, manipulated further as the paint dries, revealing the essence of her subjects. In her artistry, Hazel conveys a profound message, celebrating not just the aesthetic allure of trees but also their pivotal role in shaping our planet's climate future. Her oeuvre blends elements of realism, contemporary flair, and impressionistic charm, resulting in a captivating fusion of styles. Hazel's artistic vision extends beyond mere representation; she endeavours to encapsulate the essence of all four seasons and the myriad moods of different times of the day within her landscapes. Through her brushstrokes, she invites viewers into a realm of tranquility and introspection, allowing them to immerse themselves fully in the scene, experiencing the calming embrace of nature firsthand. “My painting style has developed over the years, mostly through experiments with oils. I paint with a palette knife and brush, and my work has three narratives: realism, contemporary and impressionistic. Look at my work closely and you will understand why it is all three styles. I would describe my process of painting as almost sculptural, as I purposely add thick layers of paint and marks with a pallet knife, then take away or add more paint over these marks when dry, as the scene starts to take shape. This gives my work a textural and realist look and feel, so the viewer can be lost momentarily within the painting. I have studied for years observing our environment through my passion for trees, from the smallest detail, of an acorn right up to a complete forest changing over the years. This gives me an intuitive instinct on how to paint trees in all their beauty and the Spirit of life they bring to the natural world. I am passionate and conscious that my main aim in showing my work is to send out a message of not only the beauty of trees, but in all our environment in the world we need to respect nature for the future stability of the climate of our world.”- Hazel Thomson
