About the Item

'Remembering' is an original seascape painting by Helen Howells. 'Remembering' was inspired by my beloved South Wales Coastline, and was painted during lockdown. Harnessing my memories, and emotions of many walks taken prior to restrictions. It is not of any particular place, but a combination of many that inspire and captivate me. Helen Howells is an artist living and working in the historic village of Caerleon in South Wales. Discover more original art with Helen Howells with Wychwood Art online and in our Deddington gallery. Helen initially trained as a nurse, however following a career break whilst she raised her family, she took the decision not to return to nursing but to pursue her original ambition to become a fine artist. Upon completion of a Foundation Art course at the University of South Wales in Caerleon, in which she gained a distinction, Helen embarked upon establishing herself as an artist, focusing primarily on the dramatic Welsh seascapes and landscapes which she loves. Working predominantly in oil on canvas, she uses brush and palette knife marks to create rich textures which have been described as sensitive and expressive. Helen uses a semi abstract style to capture the essence of the image, drawing upon her experiences and deep emotional connection with the Welsh countryside. Her work focuses on the dynamic nature of light, and its interaction with the surrounding environment. The creation of each painting is an emotional journey in which Helen endeavours to engage the viewer to reach their own interpretation. David Leviathan's "Trunks" is a 39" x 45" contemporary landscape abstract that captures the essence of a forest's heart.
