Joseph Sundwall
Foggy Morn, original impressionist coastal landscape

About the Item

It's just another foggy morn in coastal Florida. Sleeping in, then walking along the waterfront with a smoothie while taking in the sublime landscape. They've changed the Players Championship so many times it's hard to remember which month it will be played this year but it's hard not to smile when thinking of how many balls of even the pros don't land it on the island green. Maybe tennis or pickle ball will be better for cardio after all! Artist Joseph Sundwall is an accomplished impressionist and marine painter exquisitely on display in this timeless marine landscape. Joseph Sundwall grew up in Chicago where his artistic talents were recognized early on. He studied his trade at the Kansas City Art Institute, the famed Art Students League and National Academy of Design in NYC followed by added training in London at the St. Oswald Studios. His instructors included such luminaries as Everett Kinstler and David Leffel. While always seeking minimalism in his compositions, Sundwall's ability to combine styles and techniques with varied subject matter is quite exceptional. To significant acclaim, Sundwall original oil paintings are in private collections throughout the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and continental Europe.

Known for it's timeless charm, the quaint Cotswolds of England are what dreams are made of. Resplendent with aging shrubs, mellowed stone, grazing sheep, private estates precisely marked by natural boundaries. Legendary artist John Phillip Osborne, applying many of the principles of the Barbizon school of art painters as well as that of the impressionists was the leading instructor of the highly regarded Ridgewood Art Institute of New Jersey for more than thirty four years. Osborne taught a generation of his students to go beyond the obvious in portraying their subject matter in a composition striving to capture the genuine overall feeling of the moment. After graduating with honors from Pratt Institute of NYC he then continued his studies at the Art Students League, also of NYC. Original Osborne oil paintings...

    Located in Spring Lake, NJ
Heading due west from NYC to escape the hustle and bustle of city living and arrive in time for the afternoon milking was quite a trek for the American aristocrats who built the estates of the New Jersey Somerset Hills during the Great Depression. Whether arriving by horse and carriage, train or motorcar, the festivities never ceased once there, overlooking the bucolic farms and farmland, resplendent with with some of the most elaborate homes and estates in the country. A popular arrival spot was Bernardsville, with it's horse and carriage manufacturing plant, car repair and train station, still home to a dairy farm just outside of the town center.
