About the Item
Toronto artist Julie Himel’s vividly colourful artwork offers a fresh and contemporary vision of ‘the landscape.’ Himel’s abstracts are often inspired by moments and memories of time spent in nature. This mixed media piece of a forest glade in purples, bright pink, blues and white is set against a brilliant sunshine yellow and a turquoise sky.
“I want the light to bounce off the work, for you to be able to move around the work and feel differently from different angles because of that physicality I want the mark to be alive and very interactive.” Julie Himel
She completed a BFA at York University with additional studies at the Toronto School of Art and Langara College in Vancouver. Himel has been painting professionally for more than 20 years. Her award-winning paintings can be found in private, corporate and public collections.
