Bare trees set against a dramatic blue sky hug the shoreline in this dreamy landscape by Julie Himel. Rendered in a pastel palette of blues, mauve, white and pale yellow punctuated by black, Himel’s work is intended to draw your attention to the fragile beauty of nature.
“They aren’t realistic landscapes. The palette is often pretty wild. They’re dream-like, sometimes based on memory but they’re a little removed from reality.” Julie Himel
She completed a BFA at York University with additional studies at the Toronto School of Art and Langara College in Vancouver. Himel has been painting professionally for more than 20 years. Her award-winning paintings can be found in private, corporate and public collections.
