Wonderful painting of mist at the base of Grand Teton Peak in the Grand Tetons titled "Morning Mist" by Keith Fay (American, 1920 - 2008), circa 1980), C. 1980. Displayed in a giltwood frame. Signed lower left with title and additional signature on inner mat. Presented in pewter toned gilt wood frame. Image, 10.5"H X 13"W; with mat, 19.5"H x 22"W. Grand Teton Peak surrounded by the other Cthedral Group peaks. Mt. Teewinot Mt. on the left an Mt. Owen to the right with Grand Teton in the center.
Keith Fay was a well-known painter in the Jackson, Wyoming area for his mountain landscapes. Keith Fay was born Aug. 31, 1920, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. From 1941 to 1945, he served in the Army Air Corps where he painted the signature-jagged teeth on the airplanes for the Flying Tigers. In 1946 he moved to Jackson Hole in 1966, where he opened the Fay Art Gallery. He died August 15, 2008 at his home in Jackson Hole.
