He is a painter, a print maker and a graphic designer. Currently shares his life between Westcliff-on-Sea, Essex and his studio hideway in Poland. Since coming to the UK in 1996 he has been busy creating, exhibiting and selling his work. From 2002 to 2013 he was an Artist in Residence in Regent's Park; and since 2009 he has been working with the National Trust as their resident artist for the South East region. His links with the National Trust remain very strong with a new exhibition coming up in 2017. Mariusz says, "Both these appointments have been a joy to me, and both have broadened my horizons and my outlook beyond measure. This country has always shown a practical interest in the arts, and I know that well. But to see it exercised in the everyday world leaves me very appreciative of the openness I've encountered here." For a number of years, Mariusz has been creating paintings illustrating classical music. In 2000 he completed a frieze (22 metres by 1.5 meres), entitled 'Four Seasons, Four Stages of Life', as a visual expression of Vivaldi's music. This frieze is shown life as part of the classical performances of the Polish National Radio Orchestra and has been featured on Polish National Television. Following this he has completed four further parts to this frieze to Piazzolla's version of the Four Seasons, and was commissioned to prepare a separate triptych to commemorate The Year of Chopin in 2010, shown on stage during recitals by prominent pianists. Recently he completed a large painting to the Mussorgsky's "Pictures from an Exhibition". His view of the natural world was recognised by the Award for 'Expressing the Essential Spirit of Holland Park'. He has also received other numerous awards: 2006 - Main Prize Winner - editor's choice of 'The Artist Magazine', and in the same year the Nina Hosali 1st Prize of the Free Painters & Sculptors Society. Other prizes include: Winsor & Newton, Pro Arte, Caran D'ache and Royal Talens. When the moon is full you can walk in the evening and it feels almost as light as day. The wood is quiet with dark tones of the trees creating shadows in the pale moonlight. An original artwork, one of a kind, this painting has been created with high quality acrylic paints on deep edged canvas. I begin with observation of the place making notes and taking photographs to work from in the studio. From these beginnings I work intuitively, painting some base layers with a brush and then impasto techniques layer on layer applied with a palette knife. Harnessing optical mixing techniques employed by the impressionists and some of the methods of the old masters such as scumbling and glazing. I continue working until the painting reaches a natural conclusion. The result is a contemporary painting, which lies somewhere between abstraction and realism. The painting continues round the sides, a frame is not needed and it is ready to hang. Amanda Horvath...

  • A Walk in the Rose Garden of the Princess Grace of Monaco, Diptych, Original art
    By Mary Chaplin
    Located in Deddington, GB
This work was inpired by the memory of a pleasant walk with friends to discover Princess Grace’s rose garden in Monaco. I wanted to grab the moment capturing the sun, the colors and the perfumes, a potpourri of happiness where one immerses oneself in the well being that such a place offers. The large size of the diptych makes you want to enter the place. The old olive tree has been simplified, its foliage and the sky are one, so it looks like a sentinel watching over the roses. Convinced by the positive impact that nature has on the quality of our lives, through my art, I wish to transmit this myriad of beneficent feelings. This work is made with high quality acrylic paint on top quality linen canvas. Additional Information: 'A walk in the rose garden of the Princess Grace of Monaco...

  • Aradhana-22, Acrylic on Canvas Red by Contemporary Indian Artist "In Stock"
    Located in Kolkata, West Bengal
Anil Kumar Yadav - Aradhana-22 - 72 x 48 inches (unframed size) Acrylic on Canvas STYLE : Anil Kumar Yadav is an Artist from Kolkata who was born in 1984 a village in Uttar Pradesh. He grew up among villagers with modest lives and the village culture. The Rangolis at the village festival and the local potters’ fine works of art inspired him greatly towards art as a hobby and potential career from early childhood. His father was then posted to Kolkata so their family relocated to the city. Once the capital of India, with its rich cultural heritage and character immediately caught my attention. He started painting for the first time in the city. Since the central theme to his paintings is related to present day society, his works appear photographic or naturalistic. The religious ghats of Varanasi, Haridwar and other antique places attracted him for their cultural heritage characterised by the holy saints, antique architectures, old idol sculptures and mysticism, spirituality. So he portrayed the simplicity of the architectural doors, temples, sculptures and the beautiful narrow streets and ‘galis’ which holds beauty that can not be described in words. He always prefers a highly realistic approach in his paintings for whatever he sees in his surroundings. He started to represent paintings in a form whose expression manifests a step ahead of photography. He has always tried to reach to a horizon where photography cannot reach and make a statement what is called hyperrealism. • The Canvas House - landscape, abstracted, pop-art, acrylic on canvas
    By Charles Pachter
    Located in Bloomfield, ON
This particular painting is a play on the form of the Canadian flag, the military history of Canada, the journey implied by the use of the tent, and of course, the primary symbolism of the pyramid. In true Pachter form, he manages to challenge and evoke all these ideas with riveting simplicity. One of Canada’s leading contemporary artists, Charles Pachter is a painter, printmaker, sculptor, designer, historian, and lecturer. His work is pursued by significant private and public collections. Born in Toronto, he studied art history at the University of Toronto, French literature at the Sorbonne, and painting and graphics at the Cranbrook Academy of Art in Michigan. His work has been exhibited at the Art Gallery of Ontario, the Royal Ontario Museum, and the McMichael Gallery. He is represented in public and private collections throughout Canada, and internationally. He has held solo exhibitions in France, Germany, Japan, the UK, and India. Pachter worked at Expo 67 in Montreal supervising the installation of 60 contemporary sculptures from around the world. He taught printmaking at the University of Calgary in 1969-70. He spearheaded Toronto’s Queen Street West revival in the 1970s and 80s by restoring 20 old buildings into facilities for arts usage. He is an Officer of the Order of Canada, a Chevalier of France’s Order of Arts and Letters, a member of the Order of Ontario, and holds honorary doctorates from Brock University, OCAD University, and the University of Toronto where he is a Senior Fellow at Massey College. He is a recipient of the Queen’s Golden and Diamond Jubilee medals. His images of the queen, moose, and maple leaf flag are icons of Canadian contemporary art. McClelland & Stewart publications include an illustrated book on his life and work, and The Journals of Susanna Moodie, his celebrated collaboration with poet Margaret Atwood. His murals of Hockey Knights in Canada can be seen in Toronto’s College Subway Station. Mr. Pachter lives and works in downtown Toronto in an award-winning studio designed by Canadian architect Stephen Teeple. His work is on permanent display in his adjoining Moose Factory Gallery. From 2004-2014 in summer he painted in The ICE HOUSE...
