About the Item

Full title : The first meeting of the Prince and his lover in the forest Acrylic paint on paper Hand-signed lower right by the artist THE THOUSAND AND ONE NIGHTS OF MOHAMMAD ARIYAEI " Gentleness and oriental wisdom follow the supercharged bubbling to which we were accustomed from the previous deliberately art brut exhibition by Mohammad ARIYAEI. The Iranian painter's imagination moves serenely from the wildest frenzy to the meditative calm of great, fabulous stories. The artist then took pleasure in pouring the volcanic torrent of his barbaric figures onto the delicate latticework with which he is accustomed to lining his backgrounds with the patience of an illuminating monk. Already sweetness and paroxysm coexisted. Now gentleness wins. The trained imagination of the painter, yet spontaneously bubbling, by instinct as much as by erudition, has no difficulty in reconnecting with the abundant oriental tradition of the thousand and one nights, which, like a long underground river, resurfaces at the light of his painting. Spring renewal of traditions still alive. Systematic filling of space, a sort of oriental version of the Riches Heures du Duc de Berry, teeming with legendary reminiscences, Persian of course, but also Assyrian, or even from Indian or Chinese folklore. The decorative luxuriance of Persian rugs finds a new lease of life here. Just as carpets fly away in Persian tales, the imagination of anyone who is immersed in this universe of high fantasy hovers in a timeless reverie of the Golden Age where the most colorful of mythological fauns are active. Winged horses, centaurs, grimacing demons, horned monsters, cloven-footed genies, everything invites the viewer to tell a thousand stories. Women strike lazy poses in luxurious hammams. Why are they black? This is apparently the traditional color that legend attributes to the jinns, spirits of nature coming from a smokeless fire. Similar to elusive supernatural beings, they are more subliminal fantasies than carnal reality. Limitless abundance, the impression of embracing with your eyes a universe of inexhaustible treasures, what was confidential in illumination expands, overflows everywhere and attains the dignity of wall dimensions." • Hannah's Window, Swimmer, Water, Work on Paper, Red Swimsuit, Female Figure
    By Carol Bennett
    Located in Riverdale, NY
Hannah's Window is a figurative artwork featuring a female swimmer in a red bathing suit moving through the water. It is a mixed media painting on painted wood grained paper. Artwork is 26 x 20. It is framed to 32 x 26 with a white frame. This is part of the latest series by Hawaii artist, Carol Bennett. Carol Bennett spends all of her time surrounded by water, and a great deal within it. Her work is a meditative journey through both the water and through life. She is intrigued by how life continues to flow and change, being both in the moment and timeless. The viewer will experience being in a state “flow” – where the currents of the ocean suspend life and self, and the unexpected floats to the surface. Carol's work has been featured in many solo and group exhibits throughout California, New York, Martha's Vineyard and Hawaii including a 2007 solo show at the First Hawaiian Center at the Contemporary Museum of Art (Honolulu) and a 2018 group show "Making Waves" exhibit at the Honolulu Museum of Art. Her work was seen alongside April Gornik, Agnes Martin, Kiki Smith, and Pat Steir. In 2019, she was also featured in exhibits at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center, the Hawaii State Art Museum and a solo exhibit at the Honolulu Museum of Art. She has been featured in Hamptons Cottages & Gardens, Ocean Home Magazine and the New York Times. Carol's artwork has also been featured in Designer Showhouses in Westchester NY and the Hamptons, and is part of public and private collections around the world. Elisa Contemporary Art...

    By Samuel B. Kpetenkple

"Sunset Over the South Atlantic Shore, Ghana, Africa" is an original acrylic painting on paper by Samuel B. Kpetenkple. This piece depicts five figures standing before the whitecap waves of the ocean. 3 1/8" x 4 1/2" art 10 3/4" x 12" frame Artist Statement: "As often said there are some few "indigenous and naturals" who seem to have been born with brushes and pallet knifes in their hands. Nii Kpetenkple Samuel is one of such gifted and talented Artist; Painting to me, is one of the eloquent media for expressing myself about all the corners of the world and all that it holds; Of course it is not by accident, that i went into Painting. Nii Kpetenkple was born and bred in a coastal town, a suburb of Accra called NUNGUA, it's only 10 miles away from Accra. I am now in my late twenties. Nii Kpetenkple, had his training as an Artist at one of the secondary schools in Accra - Ghana. Later I had my tertiary training at Ultimate school of Art, (u.s.a) Ghana. I enjoy sketching, swimming, reading and music that keeps me working always. My childhood experiences with fishermen in their fishing expedition, fish mongers, market women, local houses or structures and meaningful Ghanaian symbols with abstract figures made me one of the expert in that area. As an Artist, art enables me to see nature as eternal, grasp a fragment of the Almighty's plan, even a bit of land scape, few pieces of fruits or a human form. Throughout my period of contemplation and years of uninterrupted close contact with nature, vast truths flashed upon my mental horizon, to which i gave expression in my paintings. I had no doubt that, i had discovored a new realm in the world of painting and would carry on to a fuller completion with what many gurus of the Art industry like Picasso, Leonardo Da Vinci, Michelangelo, Rembrandt, Cezanne, Van gogh, Gauguin, Ablade Grover, Amon Kotei...
