This vibrant piece, "In the Mood for Poppies", is 36x36 oil painting on canvas by artist Monique Sakellarios. Featured is an expansive field of vibrant red poppies in full bloom, leading the eye back to a dark green tree line. The sky is a soft shade of purple. A little figure can be seen walking to the fields, soaking in the warm afternoon sun. About the artist: Monique Sakellarios has an extremely distinct style. Her use of lavish purples combined with warm earth tones merge to create beautiful, vast landscapes. Her well-defined technique was nurtured while she studied in Cairo, Egypt at the Leonardo Da Vinci School of Art as well as the American University in Cairo. Her work has been shown in numerous solo exhibits as well as in many juried competitions throughout New England and New York. Monique is a member of Oil Painters of America, as well as The Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club, and Hudson Valley Art Association in addition to many others. She is also a Signature Member and Governor of the National Oil & Acrylic Painters Society. Monique Sakellarios has been published in numerous areas including The Artist’s Magazine, Arts Around Boston and International Artists. She also was featured on the cover page of the 2001 Nashua Chamber of Commerce Membership Directory. Most recently, Monique was featured on the cover of the New Hampshire To Do magazine and the Nashua Hyppo in both February and March of 2005. She has been interviewed twice by Channel Nine’s First at Four News in New Hampshire in 1992 and 2000.
