Nadezda Stupina
Flying over old Halden

2021

About the Item

In this oil painting, I've conveyed the essence of a timeless village, its serene aura nestled between the enduring hills and tranquil sea. My brushstrokes carry the whispers of history and the soft hum of nature, inviting the viewer into a peaceful escape. Let this scene imbue your space with its calming energy, a reminder of the world's simple, enduring beauty. The journey often inspires the artist to create a new picture. The border town Halden is located next to Sweden. This is how birds and people see it from the height of the old fortress. The work is stylized in the color of the old tapestry . The picture is ready for hang.

Signed lower right. Complemented by a period frame. William L. Lathrop (1859-1938) Deemed “Father of the New Hope Art Colony”, William Langson Lathrop was born in Warren, Illinois. He was largely self-taught, having only studied briefly with William Merritt Chase in 1887, at the Art Students League. Lathrop first moved east in the early 1880s, and took a job at the Photoengraving Company in New York City. While there, he befriended a fellow employee, Henry B. Snell.
