Important large oil on board painting by the New York artist, Paul Wesley. Signed lower right. Condition is very good. Circa 1920. The scene depicts a horse drawn buggy with driver coming up a winding road with a lake and mountains in the background. Overall framed in ornate gold leaf frame 43.5 by 33.5 inches. Provenance: Stix, Baer, and Fuller Art Gallery, Saint Louis, Missouri.
Biography: Paul Wesley (Arndt) American 1881-1978
Trained in England Paul Wesley was a landscape painter in upstate New York in the early part of the 20th Century. He is also a descendant of John Wesley, the founder of Methodism.
