Pastoral Country Landscape Travelers on a Forest Road 19th century Oil Painting

About the Item

Brass plate leads to Russian artist Pavel Pavlovich Dzhogin (1834 - 1885). This 19th century oil painting beautifully captures a serene rural scene with travelers on a cart traveling along a forest road surrounded by beautiful and picturesque surroundings, a shepherdess with her flock, the quaint houses and watermill nestled among the lush trees. The masterful use of light and shadow creates depth and perspective, while soft color accents bring harmony to this picturesque scene. The perfect addition to any art collection. Antique oil painting on wooden board, unsigned, framed. Size app.: 23.4 x 38 cm (roughly 9.2 x 15 in), frame is 37.7 x 52.3 cm (roughly 14.8 x 20.6 in). Very good ready to hang condition showing minimal usage wear, losses also to frame. Please study good resolution images for cosmetic condition. Dzhogin was an Russian painter, draftsman and lithographer, a prominent master of academic landscape of the mid 19th century, associated with the school of M. N. Vorobyov, close friend and correspondent of I. I. Shishkin. Member of the St. Petersburg Artel of Artists (since 1863), academician of the Imperial Academy of Arts (since 1867).
