About the Item

"Garns at Strumblehead in Pembrokeshire" by Rene Legrand Oil on Canvas 20 by 30 inches, Signed and Framed. Rene Legrand was born in Singapore of Swiss parents he came to England in his formative years and showed early promise in Art. Legrand studied Old Masters at the Slade School of Art and has his first exhibition soon after at Heals Department Store, it was a sell out and led to many interesting and diverse commissions throughout Europe. After several commercial commissions in the 1980's including for the film Greystoke and artwork for Nina Ricci, Legrand had the first of many successful exhibitions at the Priory Gallery, Cheltenham. During the 1990's his commercial success was sealed with numerous exhibitions most notably Harrods Art Gallery which showcased his ballet and beach scenes. Legrand continues to paint beach scenes which are in many important collections and have a loyal following, he also paints on location most often Venice, Barcelona and the Italian Lakes. Since the early 90's Legrand splits his time between his studio in Shropshire and Puglia in the South of Italy, his work is available exclusively at Valentine Fine Art, Ludlow.
