Roger Etienne
The painter Roger Etienne was born in 1922 and lived in Paris at some time, later moving to the Hollywood, California area. .... Roger Etienne signed most of his paintings alternately Etienne and Etienne, Paris, and glued French newspaper to many of his works of art. Roger Etienne was born on December 9, 1923 in Belgium as Roger Etienne Everaert. He was an actor, known for Lionheart (1990), Marathon Man (1976) and The Greatest American Hero (1981). Roger Etienne was born in Paris in 1923 and as far as I know is still living in Southern California. He is a well listed and popular French impressionist who worked in a variety of media, oil, gouache, pastel and or charcoal, some of his paintings are a collage with pieces of French newspaper incorporated in them.
He painted landscapes, pictures of wide eyed children, nudes, and clowns.
The Internet has revealed that he may have worked at Pablo Picasso's Workshop and Marc Chagall may have commissioned him to do work for the Paris Opera House.
Reportedly he has had work in museums in Paris, Zurich and Brussels. Etienne lived and was active in both France and the USA. He died on September 27, 2011 in Los Angeles, California, USA.

- Large Pastel Landscape Purple Mountains Landscape American Modernist PaintingBy Larry HorowitzLocated in Surfside, FLLARRY HOROWITZ (American b. 1956) "Purple Mountains," 1988, pastel on paper Hand signed and dated L/R, "Horowitz '88," Dimensions sight 19 1/2" x 23", framed, 26 1/2" x 30 1/2". Larry Horowitz is an American landscape painter. He was born in 1956 in New York City and graduated from SUNY Purchase and immediately won the prestigious and coveted position as apprentice to Wolf Kahn. Horowitz's work captures the beauty of the American landscape with expert use of texture and color that invites imagination and discovery. Although he paints en plein air, he has a firm grounding in abstract expressionism through his education with former students from the Bauhaus and Hans Hofmann school. He has combined both points of view to develop his unique language. His work follows in the tradition of great Modernist American landscape painters Arthur Dove, Georgia O'Keefe and Charles Burchfield but with a more modern, Fauvist color palette. He was included in the show "In the Country, By the Sea" at Madelyn Jordan Gallery along with David Kimball Anderson, Stanley Boxer, Byron Browne, Derek Buckner, Richard Diebenkorn, Larry Kelsey, Gary Komarin, and Susan Wides. Horowitz has also shown at Images Gallery along with Gary Bukovnik, Helen Frankenthaler, Larry Horowitz, Alex Katz, Robert Motherwell, Don Nice, Philip Pearlstein, Joseph Raffael, Hunt Slonem, Carol Summers and Neil Welliver. Horowitz has exhibited extensively both in the US and Canada and is included in numerous private, corporate and public collections.
