About the Item
Shizico Yi's Spring Duet is a project that explores the format of sets of diptychs through a series of paintings. Shizico Yi painted en plein air, capturing the landscape outside of her studio and the interiors of the studio in its entirety, depicted across two canvases as a diptych in the period of three months, at the end, she made 4 pairs and this is a special offer for the whole collection of this series.
Each canvas represents a part of musical notes, creating a visual harmony akin to a musical duet.
This project is part of the ongoing Memory Landscape series, which Shizico started in 2015. Nearly a decade later, the series continues to evolve, showcasing the rich depth of Shizico's exploration. Through last decade with this series, Shizico has created works that explored various mediums and styles, ranging from installations and sculptures to paintings, and from impressionism and expressionism to abstract forms which is what this series speaks.
This Spring Duet chapter focuses on the delicate hues of soft and creamy green, yellow and blue and violet evoking the early spring sky characteristic of Northern Europe, where the series unfolds.

Dr. Shizico Yi, the UK artist working on installations, films and paintings; the documentary nature of her work often concerns about the loss, repetition, the everyday subject and memories . With design and film background, Shizico combines her interests making installation projects which relate to artist's personal life in relation to the society and human condition at large.
Shizico Yi holds a PhD in Fine Art awarded by UEL, UK 2017; she had completed a Master in Fine Art with a BA in Womenswear from UAL. London. She is also the Winner of Women Film Makers: Best Shorts Competition 2013 Los Angels. USA.

Shizico Yi's work aims to explore artistic obsession through repetitive documentation of the domestic and the everyday.
