"Gladiolus Glorious" stands as Shizico Yi's latest artistic endeavour. Serving as a seamless extension of her esteemed Sunlit Series, which commenced in late spring 2023 and spanned the entire year, this new series exemplifies Shizico's mastery of her visual language, interwoven with the vibrant hues of yellow. Within this exploration lies a profound journey into the curative essence of yellow, a celebration of the sun's radiant embrace that heralds the arrival of much-needed warmth after the prolonged chill of winter.
This painting crafted en plein air over a succession of days, it was brought to life within the enchanting sanctuary of her cottage garden in the heart of London.
About Sunlit Series:
Shizico Yi's Sunlit Series is a celebration of Yellow and an exploration of its healing power. This Series nestles gracefully within Shizico's "Golden Period," a profound exploration cantered around the captivating hue of yellow.
It is a colour she believes possesses healing energy for those afflicted by grief.
The result is a breath-taking testimony to the profound connection between the materials, the artist, and the subjects ( with the meaning of the garden she grows, and her personal grief )
This is a very rare Extra Large Limited Edition. Only 10 Editions were made. It is made with Fuji archival film paper with hand painted finishing by artist Shizico Yi's own hand with original acrylic paints onto of the edition.
The impactful size and its colours would bring powerful presence to your space.

Dr. Shizico Yi is a London based artist, working on installations, films and paintings; the documentary nature of her work often concerns about the loss, repetition, the everyday subject and memories . With design and film background, Shizico combines her interests making installation projects which relate to artist's personal life in relation to the society and human condition at large.
Shizico Yi holds a PhD in Fine Art awarded by UEL, UK 2017; she had completed a Master in Fine Art with a BA in Womenswear from UAL. London. She is also the Winner of Women Film Makers: Best Shorts Competition 2013 Los Angels. USA.
