Up for sale is an interesting 19th century (or older) original oil painting on canvas in neoclassical style, depicting a genre scene - Old white-haired and bearded Homer, the famed poet, is seated in a dark landscape reciting his works and playing his lyre to several young people with their dog. Other robed figures walk along a path toward a city on the sea in the distance. Sheep graze under the trees at right. No visible signature on the front. Dimensions (frame): 42.5 "W x 31.5" H Dimensions (sight): 36 "W x 25.5" H Condition: Lined. Color quality is very good for a painting of this age. The frame has some signs of wear.
