Yeonsoo Kim focuses on the color green, drawing from its neutral tone and energy. Kim’s landscapes are the portrait of her emotions, a freeform blend of memories and feelings.
Green is the color between yellow and blue - it’s neutral in tone and energy, balancing and calming one’s mind and emotions.
The reason we are so drawn to the green of nature may be our own instincts trying to flee from the endless adrenaline rush society constantly throws us into, always demanding more and faster.
The landscapes I drew from were a freeform blend of memories and emotions - the sky, mountains, ocean, and all of its colors were filtered through my own personal sentiments before making its way onto the canvas.
The reason my landscapes cannot be objective, is because my feelings overcome and mix into the scene as soon as I set my eyes on it. I let the mist and wind, the weather and color of the sky come together to decorate my emotions. Just as the haze of a flowing mist makes the same scenery more dreamlike.
My landscapes are the portrait of emotions, the nature and weather being my expressions.
