Nan Hass Feldman
"Wild Horses", landscape, greens, blues, yellows, acrylic painting

1989

About the Item

Nan Hass Feldman’s “Wild Horses” is a large 57 x 36 x 1.5 inch acrylic landscape painting with an analogous palette of relaxing greens, blues and yellows. The artist defines "Wild Horses" as "a Narrative Fantasy painting which means a made-up world of many levels with a foreground, about four middle grounds, and a background. It is a dream I had of visiting Australia, though I had never been there. The animals, people, house, trees, land, water, and sky all are living in a dream space, though possibly real. This painting is both harmonious and pleasing while also being jarring and unconventional." This extremely tall work would fit into a big vertical space and views well from a great distance and also close-up. Nan Hass Feldman has been a full-time artist for over 40 years. Her works, whether Landscapes or Interiors are interpreted through her screen of selective seeing, playful detail, heightened color, and bits of fantasy. Nan’s work is always vibrantly colorful, intricate, enlivening, and upbeat. For Nan, art really is about enhancing and interpreting reality to create a more optimistic and joyous world. Nan’s work has been collected in seven countries, holds a BFA, MA, MFA degrees, teaches in three art museums, runs international painting programs, and runs the Artist Loft on a cruise ship. Feldman is represented by Fountain Street Gallery in Boston, MA.

  • "Necessary Risk", contemporary, landscape, blue, clouds, mountain, acrylic
    By Frantz Lexy
    Located in Natick, MA
“Necessary Risk" is a contemporary landscape painting by Frantz Lexy. Under the blue sky, vast cumulonimbus white clouds tower over a rocky mountain. This 20 x 16 inch painting is rendered in acrylic mediums and is signed on the back of the panel. Through painting, Frantz Lexy explores personal identity, belonging, and humanity’s place in nature and its relationship with technology. Lexy uses personal storytelling as a vehicle to engage contemporary concerns and invites others to find their own narratives through his imagery. Lexy is fascinated with how paradoxical imagery creates tension and compels us to reflect on our immediate reaction. Human figures are recurring motifs in Lexy’s works. He is equally interested in texture and abstraction, and how they play within his landscapes. Lexy’s portfolio is a reflection on the plurality that exists within every individual, and specifically how that relates to people of color. Frantz Lexy is a self-taught artist and experimentation is a driving force behind his vibrant acrylic paintings. His work has been shown in galleries across Massachusetts. He is represented by Fountain Street...

Sandra Cohen’s “when we arrive in the middle of nowhere” is a 12 x 12 x .25 inch acrylic painting on tempered hardboard, in green, blue, pink, red, orange, and white. Abstracted wild flowers and greenery wave under a blue springtime sky, where a tiny plane is landing. A circular pattern of arrows moving in opposite directions is overlaid in white and intertwines with itself and the fine red lines that grow like stems outward from its unseen center. Inspired by the song “Autopilot” by Queens of the...
