Nico Vrielink was born in 1958 in Reusel (North Brabant, The Netherlands)
At a young age he aspired to an artistic career and studied at the Academy of Arts in Belgium. He later became a teacher, which he did for only one year. He left for the Far East where he met his wife and muse Jeane in Singapore. That meeting would be a real turning point in his life, Jeane and Nico are inseparable after their meeting and he makes around 6000 paintings depicting her. Nico Vrielink's work is part of important Museum collections, corporate and private collections and six books have now been published about the work and life of this exceptional artist. His paintings are sold worldwide and he has exhibited more than 500 times, including in cities such as San Francisco, New York, Los Angeles, Boston, Las Vegas, Miami, Hawaii, Washington DC, Berlin, Frankfurt, Djakarta, Singapore, Shanghai , Beijing, Amsterdam, London, Brussels, Paris, Vienna, Toronto and Sydney.
Nico Vrielink works according to the academic method, from dark to light. In addition to his most famous subject Jeane, another theme is also particularly close to his heart, Eastern mysticism. In the paintings he makes of Jeane, too, we see that she gradually becomes more serene and reserved on canvas, and the backgrounds are also increasingly imbued with mysticism.
In 2010, the intense relationship with Jeane came to an end. The erotic woman remained visible in his work, but the image nevertheless changed.
Nico Vrielink's contemporary work are mostly large works of 2 m high on which scenes are drawn and painted with charcoal, acrylic and oil paint in a dark and raw way. Today's paintings are much more abstract, larger, and freer.

Nico Vrielink
Nico Vrielink was born in 1958, in Reusel, in the southern part of the Netherlands. He was educated at the Academy of Art, in Belgium, to become a teacher. But, teaching wasn't his cup of tea and in 1984, he began working as an artist. A year later, in 1985, Nico met his wife, Jeane, in Singapore. It was love at first sight and since that day, he started painting her and never stopped doing so. By this time, Nico has made thousands of paintings of Jeane. He has had expositions of his work all over the world. His work can be found in international private or business collections and museums.
