1989

About the Item

Available at Madelyn Jordon Fine Art. 'Still Life with Figs and Flowers' 1989 by Peter Nadin. Oil on canvas, 51 x 48 in. Geometric, still life painting with sculptural elements in pop colors of red, yellow, blue and green. Peter Nadin (b. 1954-), is a British-born, New York based, American artist born in Bromborough, England. Nadin’s principal medium throughout the 1980s was painting, although he also produced sculpture and published poetry, including “Poetry Room,” a one-year installation at American Fine Art Gallery. Although, his work from this time passed through a variety of styles, its primary focus is the representation of consciousness through painterly marks, a theme that Nadin returned to throughout his career. In 1992, Nadin ceased to exhibit his art and turned to farming. He acquired Old Field Farm, a farm dating to the early 19th century in Cornwallville, a hamlet in the northern Catskills of New York. After an absence of almost 20 years, Nadin held his first exhibition in New York in 2011 at Gavin Brown’s enterprise in the West Village. Peter Nadin's work has been seen in solo exhibitions at the Yale Center for British Art, New Haven (1992), the Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston (1989), Brooke Alexander Gallery, New York (1986), Le Nouveau Musée, Lyon (1981) and the Museum fur (Sub) Kultur, Berlin (1981). He has also been included in group exhibitions at the 1988 Venice Biennale XLII, Stadtische Kunsthalle Dusseldorf (1987), the Carpenter Center for Visual Arts, Harvard University (1985), Kunstmuseum Bern (1985), the Walker Art Center (1983) and Westkunst Cologne (1981). Nadin's work is in public and private collections in the U.S. and Europe, including the Museum of Modern Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Yale Center for British Art, Rooseum, Stockholm, and the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge, England, among others.

  • On Silverlode Road
    By Jonas Fisch
    Located in Los Angeles, CA
Swedish artist Jonas Fisch’s imagery is vibrantly buzzing with colorful commentary on society - past and present - morphed into figures, words, and shapes. His heavily layered canvases are the foundations of a new visual dialogue. Fisch paints with a jazz-like spontaneity, expressing personal emotions, commenting on contemporary society, and exploring old mythologies. Formulating a galaxy of the unknown, Fisch’s textural paintings flood the mind with possibility. His process is instinctive and organic, the paintings energetic and vibrant, emerging from his subconscious without judgment. They are constructed by feelings trying to find harmony. Endless figures, messages, layers, and symbols move in and out of focus as the eye explores his puzzle pieces with varied solutions. Jonas Fisch created this large colorful 93-inch tall by 67-inch wide painting with mixed media. acrylic, and oil stick on canvas. This artwork is stretched and is ready to hang. It is signed by the artist on the back of the painting. This artwork does not require framing. Free delivery is available for those in the local Los Angeles area, and affordable worldwide shipping is available for US and international art collectors. A certificate of authenticity issued by the art gallery is included with the artwork, ensuring that the piece is an authentic work of art from Jonas Fisch. Born in a small fisherman's village in southern Sweden, contemporary artist Jonas Fisch discovered his love for drawing and painting at a young age and was inspired to pursue his passion by renowned artist and grandmother Ann-Marie Sjögren. Fisch reflects, “As a fundamentally introspective person, I have an explosive need to express and communicate my innermost rays, reflections, and shadows. The canvas, the brush, and the paint allow me to act out, throw up, confront, and examine those innermost feelings. Painting becomes my outlet. At a certain moment, each shape, stroke, and color suddenly takes over and the painting reveals itself. It becomes an expressive personal collaboration of art." Fisch's artworks have been exhibited across the United States, Switzerland, and Hong Kong. His paintings can be found in private collections worldwide.
