About the Item
Corine Laine is a painter from Barbizon, a French commune located in the department of Seine-et-Marne, in the region of Île-de-France. Barbizon is one of the mythical places of pre-impressionist painting in France.
As early as 1830, what was still a lumberjack's hamlet welcomed at the Ganne Inn all the painters who came to seek inspiration from the unspoiled nature. Later, they shared their stays between Barbizon and Chailly-en-Bière, finding their subjects in the countryside or the nearby forest of Fontainebleau, painting on the spot.
The artist, a psychologist by trade, studied art at "l'Atelier de Nicole Gane" and began her career in a unique way.
Her pictorial approach with great freedom forces us to react on the codes of judgment and to dive into the depth of the unknown.
Lively portraits, with her characters, both isolated and united in a monochrome space. The calm and serene atmosphere of the painters' village and its heritage influence the characters of Corinne Laine. We feel that they want to tell us a story and that behind a portrait can be a story, an experience, a life worth listening to.
Her portraits are a necessary interface between the gaze transformed into an external and internal world with a lot of emotional tension.
His work has an expressive force based on a solid technique and a working composition leaving importance in the off-field. Her technique is simple, pure and mastered. Everything is there in this artist, without exaggeration, without trivialization, serenely and with much frankness.
His paintings seem to steal moments of life, they have a soul.
