Jean-Claude Gaugy
"La Rencontre", Jean-Claude Gaugy, Oil on Board, 80x144 in, Contemporary, Figure

2010

About the Item

"La Recontre" is an original oil on board painting by Jean-Claude Gaugy. The painting is a contemporary portrait of a couple looking at each other seductively on a four-piece master painting. The title of the piece translates to "The Encounter". Gaugy captures the couple in his textured lines and warm colors through geometric shapes. The nude woman is luring in her male subject. In Gaugy's acclaimed carved paintings, all ancient and archetypal expressions of the human soul find articulation in textured line and luminous color, and in images that reflect the essence of who we are. Jean-Claude Gaugy is a contemporary French artist known for his painted relief sculptures of crystalline abstractions of figures, landscapes, and still lifes.
