Oil on canvas, measures 40" x 29" unframed. Painting comes framed in dark oak wood finish. Heavily textured painting using only oil paint. This is a portrait of a South Asian bride, physically feeling the weight of her garments and jewellery, and emotionally, bearing the weight of patriarchy and the norms that come with it, expecially for a new bride. This momentous day is just the beginning.
The texture of the clothes is created by scraped dried oil paint, built up over the months and years on the artist's palette.
