This painting was purchased from Balkin's estate. It came from his home in upstate NY. It is titled "Venus de Floride", dated 8/2007 and signed both on the front and en verso. This painting appears to depict the palms of Florida in Vibrant acrylics on a darker background creating the abstract expressionist style that Balkin is known for.

Younger Balkin was a working model who ran with the early Warhol crowd and worked at The Factory with Andy.
Balkin is also very well known for his photography.
Steve Balkin is also known for being the proprietor of the Upper East Side’s Burlington Antique Toy Shop until 2011
Steve Balkin is also one of 13 Warhol talents to be featured in "13 MOST BEAUTIFUL". Created Forty-five years after Andy Warhol’s seminal SCREEN TESTS, New York artist Conrad Ventur gathered together thirteen beautiful people from the Factory demimonde to recreate their earlier portraits. The new films follow Warhol’s minimalist design both in terms of framing and duration (a three minute shot projected back at a slightly slower speed), though the sense of “passing time” now registers in terms of decades rather than minutes.
