Anton Kandinsky
Hommage to Mark Rothko

2004

About the Item

Anton S. Kandinsky conceived his own style "Gemism" in 2003 - a composition that contains or is completely created using gemstones. In 2004 he was very keen and inspired by art of Mark Rothko. Yet he was still experimenting with expressive style and moving from his early still lives to more contemporary compositions. This painting is an excellent and very rare example of Anton's "Gemism in transition", when he was already consciously placing a gemstone into each painting. This painting was a gift from the artist. It is on a heavy-duty stretchers, unframed, in excellent condition. A real gem!
