Charming oil on hardboard panel from mid 1950's, representing a bouquet of roses in a vase.The painting is signed on the lower left by Irene Kestova a russian listed artist who lived in France the main part of her life.
The painting is in very good condition, it comes with a recent gilted wooden frame.

Bio:
Irène klestova
Irene Klestova was born on March 13, 1907 in Saratov in Russia. She continues her studies in a private school of F. I. Rerberg in Moscow. In 1925, she emigrated to Western Europe. In 1925-1926, she attended the courses of the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome.
In Venice, Irene Klestova meets the painter Lev Tchistovsky who becomes her husband. In 1926, they settled in Paris in the Montparnasse district, impasse du Rouet.
In the 1930s, she and her husband left Paris for Cénevières, a small town in south-west France, where she began to cultivate the orchids which served as models.
The works
Klestova's nudes, landscapes, portraits and still lifes are executed in the academic style. It is his still lifes with roses, peonies, lilies, orchids and dahlias that are the best known.
Klestova was a member of the National Society of Fine Arts and a member of the Salon des Indépendants.
In 1931, she participated in the exhibition of painters from "The Union of Russians graduated from foreign colleges". Between 1935 and 1975, she exhibited at the Salon des Indépendants , at the Salon de Meudon (1945), at the Salon du Printemps (1947, 1948), at the Salon of "Free Art" (1947, 1948 ) as well as in numerous exhibitions in Great Britain and the United States.
Some of his paintings are presented in the book by the American painter Walter T. Foster (en) "How to draw and paint flowers". This book is translated into several languages.
The paintings of this artist are part of the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts of Villefranche-de-Rouergue, that of the castle of Cénevières as well as British and American galleries public and private .
Irene Klestova died on January 18, 1988 in Paris. She is buried next to her husband in Cénevières .
