About the Item
“Basket with tangerines” is a work that pays homage to the natural beauty and timeless elegance of this luscious fruit. Painted with great precision and a keen eye for detail, this masterpiece exudes a contemporary realism infused with the spirit of Impressionism.
The medium used is oil on canvas, which allows to capture the vibrant colors, delicate textures, and the play of light on the subject matter. The bright tangerines create a vivid contrast against the deep dark of the background focusing the viewer's eye towards the center of the composition. I tried to capture the nuances of each tangerine’s skin, from the golden yellows to the subtle red, conveying their unique personalities and individuality. The reflection of a basket of fruits on a horizontal plane gives a additional beautiful effect to this work.
Contemporary still life in realistic style. The work is painted from life on a quality 100% linen canvas with oil color of high quality The painting technique is many-layer. The edges of work are painted.

Irina Trushkova was born in Russia and graduated from the Faculty of Art of Krasnodar State University in 1987. She has been professionally engaged in painting since 1991. Having participated in more than 30 exhibitions and Art Fair her works are now represented in private collections in Russia, Germany, Norway, Italy, Switzerland, Denmark, the USA, France, Belgium, South Africa, and the United Kingdom. Trushkova became a member of the Union of Russian Artists in 1995 and a laureate of the Culture and Art Scholarship of the Krasnodar Region Administration. Since 2004 she has lived and worked in Belgium. The traditional Dutch 17th-century painting inspired Trushkova because of its delicate and balanced approach to light, shadow, and color nuances. She mainly uses a multi-layered technique. Even if their process is slow and complex, it makes it possible to accentuate light effects, various textures, and, last but not least, transparency. "I paint still life compositions in oil. Observing solely from life I aspire to capture the movement of light as it reveals both the object and the surroundings, creating a sense of serenity and quiet. The search for balance and harmony in the composition is vitally important for me. The objects in my still life can be often very usual and simple: jugs, fruits, bowls, or flowers. It's wonderment about things and visual information that l want to strengthen in my works. I invite the viewer to re-enchant in the world around us, to discover the short but really precious moments of life. Seizing the incredible beauty of life is my deepest vocation." With its mostly white tones and intricate, textured background, this work is nearly a complete departure from the artist’s other paintings. Although it is executed in a powerful chiaroscuro from a classical point of view, the counterpoint of contemporary objects with the vibrant colors make this painting distinctly modern. - Grapes and French CheeseLocated in Woodbury, CTOil on panel, signed and dated 2001. French wooden frame in ivory with gold leaf. Unframed size: 19.7 inches high x 23.6 inches wide. Framed size: 26.4 inches high x 30.5 inches wide x 1 inch deep. Sold framed. The first Eyckmans’ painting to employ a brighter, golden palette, this everyday kitchen scene explores the differing textures of the objects within. The artist’s love of all things French is exemplified here with antique pottery, a starched linen tablecloth, breadboard and, of course, fruit and favorite cheeses. Note the superb shadowing of the board extending over the table, the detailing in the chèvre and paper wrapping to the left, and the asymmetrical cluster of stemmed Muscat grapes, all illuminated by easterly light. Classical in perspective and execution, but with a more contemporary feel that derives from the use of color and light, this painting marks a transformational point in the artist’s work. - Still Life with PlumsLocated in Woodbury, CTOil on panel, signed and dated 2009. French handmade wooden Delf frame, red bolus ground with gold leaf. Unframed size: 11.8 inches high x 19.7 inches wide. Framed size: 21.3 inches high x 29.1 inches wide x 1.25 inches deep. Sold framed. This striking and animated combination of plums with a 15th Century earthenware bowl placed atop a worn plank table hearkens back to the Old Masters while remaining present-day through its geometric composition and use of negative space. Chosen for the pictorial qualities…their shape, color, scale, and satiny skin, a true representation of plums is difficult to capture, as their essence changes and degrades in a matter of hours. As such, the artist focused on including their essential details in the first layer, a practice that is unusual for him. Note the exceptional detailing in the fine variations of color and shape of the fruit, particularly the stems, and the progressive feel attained through the balance of light and color. This painting is available for viewing at The Elemental Garden in Woodbury, CT, the exclusive U.S. representative for the artist. Stefaan...Category
