Lucy Routh
Lucy Routh is an artist producing unique, beautiful and refreshing still life paintings. Lucy Routh grew up in Lancashire and later went on to study fine art at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth graduating in 1997. Routh now lives and works in North Somerset. She has a distinctive style running through all of her work contrasting traditional subject matter with a unique contemporary approach. Her work is inspired by the environment around her. She chooses to paint subjects that in shape, form and color are interesting and beautiful to look at. Routh uses a combination of acrylic paint and ink to create images that are bold, bright and fresh with a sense of space and simplicity. Routh quoted, “I apply paint, color and detail only to the living or natural elements of the subject. The inanimate parts of the painting are left to a line drawing bringing the subject to the fore. I love the intensity and definition of the line as they are fluid allowing movement in the subject."

Artist and painter Henry Walsh comments “My work begins with snapshots of busy city life and by a process of elimination I refocus the image on elements that encapsulate a sober thoughtfulness." "Scattered throughout the hustle and bustle of concrete life, like pools among the rocks, are the parks and squares that provide us with a place to breathe and a time to think. It is a fundamental need of a sane society to be able to stop once in a while and wander from the routine, lift our heads and look at the sky or take in our regular surroundings with a fresh insight.” “Sitting on the top deck of a London bus, I let my mind stroll over the lives of the people on the street, they obtain new life stories; I’m placing myself in their shoes...Category

- Bibliophile, Original Contemporary Abstract Book Painting, Modern Still Life ArtLocated in Deddington, GBBibliophile' explores the energy of precariousness... are the forms perfectly balanced, or are they near to collapse? Using a carefully mediated colour palette which is by turns both recessive and complementary, I'm interested in the ambiguity of an image which might signify something both celebratory and chaotic, with touchpoints to the analog world of books and the digital world of data.
