A Pacific Northwest native, Bauer was born in Vancouver, Washington, and has maintained a studio in Portland, Oregon since 1976. She attended the Pacific Northwest College of Art and the University of Oregon where she received her M.F.A. Since that time, she has exhibited her work throughout the Northwest while teaching art as an associate professor at Marylhurst University.
Bauer applies her modernist approach to her artwork, and her paintings become a sort of balancing act in reconciling her subjects and her techniques. Teetering between abstraction and representational, Bauer's houses are depicted as simplified forms, exploiting a universal iconography. The recognizable elements in her artwork – trees, buildings – are unconventionally depicted in wide patches of overlapping color, "pulling each painting away from literal interpretation." Marlene Bauer's abstractions stem from her interest in the visual dynamics of a quick impression of a landscape from a moving car or a glance out a window.
The artist has exhibited her work in solo exhibitions at the Laura Russo Gallery, the Elizabeth Leach Gallery (both in Portland), and the Davidson Galleries in Seattle. But instead of the landscape of the exotic which he’d experienced in his Kodak travels, he was fascinated by the humble diners, motels, and vintage signs which were vanishing from American towns and cities. In an article on his work in the July 2019 issue of American Art Collector magazine, Dillon comments on his subject matter. “Somebody’s got to save these things…These places may not exist anymore in the next 100 years.”

Alcide Ernesto Campestrini was born in Milan, where the family had moved in 1897.
After the first rudiments of art with his father, from 1914 he was a student at the Brera Academy in Milan, under the guidance of Ambrogio Antonio Alciati.
In 1919 he resumed his painting studies in Brera, interrupted by enlistment. He concluded them in 1922, the year in which he obtained his teaching qualification.
He lived in Milan and in 1923 he exhibited Smiles of other times at the Palazzo della Società per le Belle Arti and Permanent Exhibition: the so-called Brera Biennale, at the following one in 1925, presented with Ultime note and El disperados.
In 1926 he exhibited Porta Volta, at the First Art Exhibition of Milanese Artists organized by the Meneghina family, the contemporary Self-Portrait is one of the first works by him that we know so far today.
He devoted himself to still life, figure painting and the alpine landscape, the Trentino one in particular, with a technique linked to his father's school and to the late nineteenth-century tradition.
He held several personal exhibitions in Milan. The Campestrini family spends their holidays in Valsugana several times, sometimes as guests of Emma Campestrini's relatives.
The painter falls in love with Lake Caldonazzo, depicted several times in his canvases, such as in the 1949 painting...

In a new series titled Qu(i)e(t)er Interiors, Carl Grauer turns inward and brings us into an intimate space; his home. From a place of repose and safety, this environment provides warmth, comfort, and a stage to observe relationships among objects, beings, and the passage of light. His perspective tracks varied emotions, different points of view, and how the light is experienced by candlelight or sunlight reflected on walls and hardwood. “I found peace in observing the changes in light, and observing with slowness and mindfulness that comes during times of meditation.” Simple household objects are the subject of the rather complex compositions with layered perspectives. Grauer merges adept technical abilities with a penchant for authentic expression.
This painting recalls the Dutch masters with its composition and soft application of paint. Sunlight streams in through the bedroom window, raking across a bed made up with white cotton sheets, and pooling onto the brown hard wood floor. This work is intimate, tranquil and is exquisite in its technical rendering.

Having started my career by painting Rembrandt-like portraits of luminous white roses, I credit my discovery of fractals for transforming my artistic vision, and changing the direction and force of my work.
