Matthew Hopkins
Pinecone #9 (Contemporary Realist Still Life Oil of Pinecone with Gold Leaf)

2021

About the Item

"Pinecone #9" By Matthew Hopkins, 2021 Oil on panel 5x5 inches 8.5x8.5 inches framed Matthew Hopkins corrals commonplace, household objects as the subject of his charming, often miniature depictions in oil. In a recent series, Hopkins gathers up dozens of pinecones, a fascinating shape produced in nature, where similar to snowflakes, no two are the same. Hopkins infuses texture, light and shadow into these uniquely painted gems, and tops off each one with a bit of 24 carat gold leaf! The painting is complimented with a traditional gold frame that can be hung or propped on a tabletop. Ideal for your entryway, or as an enviable gift for a fellow fan of traditional still life painting. About the artist: Matthew Hopkins is a contemporary American painter.
