About the Item

A wonderful still life study depicting numerous ceramic objects on a table. They include a plate and spoon, large brown jug, drinking cup, wine bottle and a small vase filled with spherical objects. The artist has used a subdued colour palette with areas of expressive brushwork, used to create depth and interest within the composition. Indistinctly inscribed on the reverse, possibly in German. Unsigned. On canvas on stretchers.

    Overall the condition is good. With areas of surface dirt. There is some scuffing to the edges of the canvas. The canvas material is fraying slightly in the corners. Inspection under UV light reveals scattered areas of restoration where flakes of pai.

Stephanie Peek's "Uniform Language" is a constellation of small painting on alabaster-coated wood panels featuring camouflage patterns of nations worldwide. Peek’s fascination with these patterns stems from her observation of nature (including her studies of flowers, for which the artist is well known), and compositions of shapes and color relationships.
