From the estate of Jerry Opper and Ruth Opper Fruit Still Life c. 1950's Gouache on Paper 12" x 18", tiger maple wood frame 18.5"x1"x22.25" unsigned Early still life expressionist painting by Bay Area abstract expressionist artist, Jerry Opper (1924-2014). Still life done on paper and is unsigned. Unframed piece measures 12" x 18", c. 1950's. This piece came from a collection of his and his wife, Ruth Opper's work in the San Francisco Bay Area. Jerry Opper (1924-2014) He attended art classes at Chouinard Art Institute. In 1942 he was drafted into the army and was then able to study at the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center while stationed in Colorado. In 1947, he moved to San Francisco. Mr. Opper then enrolled at the California School of Fine Arts. Opper’s prints have been included in several major shows throughout the country: Oakland Art Gallery; Sacramento State Fair; San Francisco Museum of Art; International Color Lithography Exhibition at Cincinnati, Ohio; Pennell Print Show at the Library of Congress, Washington D.C.; Brooklyn Museum Print Show; Los Angeles County Fair, Pomona; City of Paris Rotunda Gallery, San Francisco.
