About the Item

Iconic New York City scenes have been creatively documented by the insightful eye of veteran photographer Mitchell Funk for over 50 years. Cascading water droplets partially shroud the Nineteenth Century bronze figures on the base of the Bethesda Fountain in Central Park. Late light transforms this scene of sparkling water droplets into a vision of impressionist beauty and wonder. The work is Signed, numbered, dated, and titled lower right recto 2/15, printed later, Printed on Hahnemühle Fine Art paper Bio: Can a street photograph be a grab shot and precisely designed at the same time? Mitchell Funk says yes. He brings finely honed photography skills such as composition, intense lighting and design to found subject matter. Mitchell Funk incorporates the compositional precision of studio photography into street photography. Yet unlike most street photographers, Funk is an abstractionist while being a documentarian. Mitchell Funk is a pioneer of " Color Photography" In 1970 he participated in one the first " Color Photography" shows at a major museum.
