About the Item
Color Photography pioneer Mitchell Funk is famous for blending representation with a broad emphasis on abstract qualities. He is a photographic minimalist cropping out extraneous details. His work focuses on color relationships and interactions between shapes. Funk started shooting in 1969, and today he's still as active as ever and continues to innovate. In "Impressionist Street Scene Manhattan," the work recalls the work of Milton Avery with its simplified pictorial structure and subtle interactions of sumptuous color.
Signed, dated and numbered, 2/15 recto, unframed, other sizes available. Printed later. This work is printed on fine art Hahnemuhle paper. Mitchell Funk is a pioneer of " Color Photography" In 1970 he participated in one the first " Color Photography" shows at a major museum. Brooklyn Museum, show "Images en Couleur" . 1971 Included he was included in the visionary book "Frontiers of Photography" Time Life. Color ! American Photography Transformed. Amon Carter Museum . He has had more than 50 Photography Magazine Covers and has had covers on Newsweek and Life Magazine
